In early 2001, Dr. Arpad Pusztai’s colleague Dr. Stanley Ewen, Dr. Arpad Pusztai’s wife Dr. Susan Bardócz and Dr. Arpad Pusztai himself submitted evidence to the New Zealand Royal Commission regarding Genetic Modification. (Dr. Arpad Pusztai is the independent scientist who had been fired for his truthful reporting regarding GMO’s/ Genetically Modified Organisms. His research team was broken up, his data seized, and six of the similar research projects that were taking place at that time were halted.)

The Showa Denko Tryptophan disaster

The tryptophan disaster in the end of the 1980′s and beginning of 1990′s killed 37 and permanently disabled 1,500 people in the United States in a disease called eosonophil myalgia syndrome (EMS).

It was caused by one or more extremely poisonous substances present in a tryptophan food supplement, which was produced by genetically engineered bacteria at the Japanese firm Showa Denko.
