I’m sitting
here this evening, watching “WETA” television, and for the first time for me, I’m learning about the infamous hawks in New York.
Pale Male, the male, and then his mate, Lola, who he whewed with a pigeon feast at their initial meeting.
The people of New York watch them and their daily hurdles every day, watch them mate and grow their young. They’ve even mated on a few ‘famous’ balconies, and by golly it was caught on tape.
Right there on WETA, a family channel – two hawks caught mating on famous balconies.
I googled them and sure enough, found a link, with incredible photos. I added the link to my links, it will probably be temporary since it is off-topic for my blog, but here is the link here too, forever embedded in this post – palemale.com/.
Has anyone ever seen these hawks in person?
I’ve not been to New York, will eventually most definitely, but haven’t yet made the trip. Would love to see these City Hawks for myself! Great photo opportunity for certain. The photo’s on this link are friggin’ incredible.
If they’re still around, any tips on where to ’stay’?

Not sure why you use ‘infamous’ which means “Having an exceedingly bad reputation; notorious.”.
They are currently active on their territory from 5th Ave. to Central Park West at the latitudes of 67th St. to the low 90’s. A walk around this area of Central Park will probably net you a view of my friend Lincoln who posts his images at palemale.com. Seeing him will guarantee an update on where the pair are if you genuinely interested. They were unsuccessful this year in hatching young.
All the best.
